Mid Coast

It’s back to light offshore East winds on the Mid Coast this morning, and conditions are clean early. There are a few small lines of swell hitting the reefs, with 1′ waves and rare bigger sets coming up to high tide at 0830. The dropping tide will kill it later in the morning, probably about the same time as Southerly winds kick in. The arvo will be bumpy with S-SW winds at 10 – 15 knts, and the lower tide will favour the beachies. Winds will gradually tend more South, then SE again in the evening and hopefully clean it up again. A late lift in swell may provide some Mally waves.   Shred factor 5/10

Winds have dropped out on the Mid Coast overnight and swung back to a light sou-easter early, but there are a few lumps left in the swell. The stormy has also receded and without the wind surf is back to a fairly weak looking 1′ on the reefs coming up to high tide at 8am. The outgoing tide won’t help things much, although the  lower tide will favour the beachies early arvo. It looks like S-SW winds will pick up again for the arvo and add chop, before easing to light and variable in the evening. The reefs will probably have peaky 1′ waves in the evening. mid1Yesterday’s onshores whipped up a fair stormy later in the day, but conditions have moderated overnight with winds almost tending SE early. There’s still a lot of lumps left in the swell and surf around  2′ on the reefs coming up to high tide at 0740. The dropping tide may improve things  on a few of the reefs  mid morning, and the beachies will have bumpy waves through low tide at lunch. Similar strength SW-W onshores may whip up a stormy after lunch, before winds swing more Southerly and ease in the evening. Shred factor 4/10

It’s cooler on the Mid Coast this morning with onshore WSW winds around 10 – 15 knots, and choppy conditions. There’s still no swell at all, just six inches of chop as we go through high tide. Nothing much will change for the first half of today, but after lunch a stormy should start to build  with SW winds picking up to around 25 knots. It’ll probably be bigger the later you leave it, so check part sheltered spots late arvo / evening. It doesn’t look like it’ll be a huge stormy, but at least there’ll be something for a grovel from mid arvo onward.  Shred factor 1/10

Conditions are clean on the Mid Coast early with light ENE winds, but still no sign of swell. There are tiny half a foot waves rolling through and occasionally breaking on the reefs that can handle the high tide, but everywhere else is flat. The beachies will be barely breaking through low tide, and the reefs won’t get over shin-high on the incoming tide after lunch.Sea breezes will kick in around lunchtime and add chop, and surf will remain flat all day. East winds are gusting over 20 knots on the Mid Coast early so it’s a bit blowey, but conditions are clean. There are tiny half a foot waves rolling through and occasionally breaking on the reefs that can handle the high tide, but everywhere else is flat. Mally waves may appear on a few more reefs mid morning, and the beachies will have learner waves through low tide at lunch. The arvo won’t see it get much over shin-high, and fresh SSE winds will add bumps ahead of a late sou-easeter in the evening. Shred factor: 1/10

Winds are from the East at around 10 knots on the Mid Coast early and conditions are clean, but again, tiny . There are ankle slappers on the reefs as we go through a fairly big high tide, and the dropping tide is not gonna help it any. Even the beachies will struggle to break through the low tide at lunchtime, and the incoming tide after lunch won’t bring any surprises. Southerly sea breezes up to 17 knots will add bumps for the arvo, and surf will remain as good as flat. Shred factor 1/10

Winds are light from the SE on the Mid Coast early and conditions are fairly clean, but as expected surf is tiny. There’s a half a foot wave on the reefs that’s been made wobbly from South winds overnight, and full from the high morning tide. The dropping tide won’t change a lot but mid morning some of the reefs may have a tiny longboard wave. Te lower tide will favour the beachies at lunchtime, but it’s unlikely they’ll get much bigger than shin-high. Winds will pick up from the South again to around 20 knots after lunch, adding chop. It’ll be very small all day. Shred factor 1/10

Winds are light from the South on the Mid Coast early, and conditions are semi-clean… and pretty well flat. Surf is barely ankle high with the full-ish tide starting to head out. The outgoing tide won’t help it any, and even the beachies will struggle to break through low tide at lunch. S-SW winds may get up around 20 knots during the arvo, producing chop that’s bigger than the swell. No waves today.

We’re back to North winds after last night’s thunderstorm and rain, and slightly bumpy conditions. Swell has dropped from the rare 1′ we saw yesterday to around ankle high, and nowhere is really surfable. A Southerly change will roll through around lunchtime, and South winds are predicted to pick up to around 17 knots. Conditions will be come bumpy, and surf will be lunch if it tops shin high for the rest of the day.   Sorry for the late report, only just got power back on. Shred factor 1/10
