Mid Coast

There were a few rumbles of thunder on the Mid Coast overnight, but early there’s just a  bit of low cloud and no wind. It’s dead glassy but there’s absolutely no swell getting into the gulf, with zero surf coming through a big morning tide.  Nothing will really change as the tide drops, and even the beachies look like they’ll struggle to break through low tide at lunch. The arvo probably won’t bring any joy either, light sea breezes may add some bumps but it might just stay clean with light – moderate sou-easters from late morning oward.

There’s no wind on the Mid Coast early and conditions are clean and glassy, also pretty much dead flat. It’s just coming off a fairly big morning tide so it’s also still very full, but the water draining out of the gulf is not gonna help it in any way. The beachies might manage some little peelers for the kids through low tide between midday and 1pm, but don’t expect a whole lot to happen on the reefs once the tide starts coming in again after lunch. Light winds should keep it clean all day, and the weather looks great at least.

Winds are out of the ESE at around 15 knots on the Mid Coast this morning, and conditions are clean. It’s also pretty much dead flat with barely shin-high waves rolling over the reefs on the outgoing tide. Low tide is at 11:30 and it’s really low,  and all that water leaving the gulf won’t help anything. It will at least offer the chance for a bit of exploration of the exposed reefs for lost fins and GoPro’s.   Winds will tend more SE-S after lunch and probably get back up to around 20 knots, adding bumps along exposed stretches. Surf will remain very small all day. Shred factor: 1

Mid Coast

The usual summer ESE winds are blowing off the land on the Mid Coast early, and conditions are clean. There are small lines of swell coming off high tide at 5am, but it’s still very borderline at around half a foot on the reefs. The dropping tide will kill it some more, but the lower tide will offer some learner / mally waves on the beachies through the lunch hour. Southerly winds will kick in early arvo and add bumps on the reefs , but evening sou-easters may open up the chance of a late longboard wave around knee-high.

SE winds are gusting around 25 knots on the Mid Coast this morning and conditions are clean, but slightly blown out anywhere exposed. Surf has come up slightly with occasional 1′ sets on the reefs, but there’s fairly long gaps of nothing in between. The dropping tide won’t help with low just before 11am, but there’s a chance of a small pulse on the incoming tide just after lunch. Fresh southerlies will kick in again after lunch and add bumps, so if there’s any waves on the reefs they’ll probably be trashed anyway.

Conditions are clean on the Mid Coast early with SE winds around 15 knots, and some very small lines of swell . Surf is around half a foot on the reefs, and the tide is heading out until just after 10am. The slow incoming tide may provide a small lift around midday, but most likely surf won’t get much bigger today. Winds will have more South in then from early arvo onward, and add a few bumps along exposed stretches, before shifting back to a fresh SE land breeze in the evening.mid1

We’re back to ESE winds around 15 knots on the Mid Coast this morning, and conditions are clean with a few lines of swell still getting up the gulf. Surf is around 1′ on the reefs with occasional bigger sets, and the tide coming in until 0815. The dropping tide will kill it a bit mid morning, but we’ll also probably see winds shift more Southerly and pick up. There should still be some waves on themid1

mid2 incoming tide after lunch, and the beachies will have waves through low tide – but fresh S-SSW winds look like adding bumps for the arvo. Happy New Year!

There’s no wind and it’s glassy on the Mid Coast again this morning, and there’s even still a few lines of swell sneaking in. Surf is around 1 – 2′ on the reefs, and the tide coming in until 0745. The dropping tide will kill the swell a bit mid morning, and probably not long after that Northerly winds will kick in and add some bumps. A W-SW change is predicted to roll through early arvo and turn winds onshore, adding chop. It’s not a strong change and winds probably won’t top 15 – 20 knots, easing off again by evening. There’ll be small waves all day, but early is probably the pick of it. Shred Factor 5/10

Winds are light from the ENE and conditions are clean on the Mid Coast early, with a few small lines trying to push into the gulf. Surf is around 1′ on the reefs, and the tide is coming in until 0715. The dropping tide will kill it a bit mid morning, but the beachies will probably have small waves through the low tide at lunch. There should still be a few longboard waves on the reefs after lunch on the incoming tide, sea breezes may add some bumps before switching back to a sou-easter and cleaner conditions in the evening. The standard morning land breeze in in effect on the Mid Coast this morning, and conditions are clean with offshores around 17 knots. There are tiny lines of swell hitting the reefs but nothing  really surfable coming up to high tide. It won’t improve much as the tide heads out, but the beachies might have some learner waves through low tide at lunch.  Sea breezes are forecast again, and they’ll probably kick in late morning and add bumps for the arvo. Some new swell shold start to appear later today, winds will shift back to the SE in the evening and clean it up again. Shred factor: 1/10
