South Coast

Winds have swung light Northerly on the South Coast overnight, and conditions are clean this morning. Swell has dropped a fair bit but it’s still solid, with surf around 5’+ along the Middleton to Goolwa stretch. Breaks between Port Elliot and Victor are still picking up some bombs and it’s glassy early. The next few hours will be the best of it with winds expected to shift Westerly around midday, and pick up 15 – 20 knots during the arvo. Exposed stretches will become a bit bumpy, but part sheltered spots like Dribs Bay should hold up pretty well all day.  Shred factor 8/10

The South Coast is being hammered by a big messy swell this morning, and onshore S-SW winds around 25 knots. The Middleton to Goolwa stretch is just a giant washing machine breakaing a long way out at over six feet. Breaks between Port Elliot and Victor are also in the 6’+ range but a mess with the onshores. Even novelty spots inside Victor are getting small waves, but nowhere is really escaping the wind. The breeze should back off to around 10 – 15 knots by late arvo, but it’ll be enough to keep it messy all day. Shred factor 4/10

The breeze has finally gone light offshore on the on the South Coast this morning, but days of sou-easters have left plenty of lumps. Surf is around 3′ between Middleton and Goolwa and still a bit lumpy, Chiton / Gap are glassy / peaky at around 1 – 2′. Waits and Parson’s should be a bit bigger, and winds will favour Parson’s. Light and variable winds late morning will surrender to onshores, and the dreaded sou-easters will resume after lunch. Mid – late morning is probably your best shot. Shred factor 6/10

Onshore SE winds around 17 knots continue to make a mess on the on the South Coast this morning. Surf is around 4 – 5′ between Middleton and Goolwa and all over the place. Chiton / Gap are bumpy at around 2′, Waits and Parson’s again will probably be a write off… but there maybe be a couple of other sneaky options around that side. The forecast predicts SE-S winds up to 20 knots for the rest of the day, so the slops aren’t going away. Shred factor 3/10

Onshore SSE winds are gusting over 20 knots and making a mess on the on the South Coast this morning. Surf is around 4 – 5′ between Middleton and  Goolwa, but it’s just absolute rubbish. Chiton / Gap are around 2′ and no tidier, needless to say Waits and Parson’s will be out of control. It won’t get any better after lunch by the looks of it, with 20 – 30 knot SSE winds forecast for the remainder of the day. Try some brown frothers in the Bay at Middleton if you’re absolutely desperate, otherwise sit this one out.  Shred factor 3/10
