Mid Coast

Winds are light from the East on the Mid Coast early and conditions are clean, but it’s dropped overnight. There are still a few 1′ waves on the reefs coming up to high tide at 0740. The outgoing tide will kill the swell after 9am but the beachies may still have something  through the low tide early arvo. The forecast predicts light / variable winds for the arvo so as long as we don’t get a sea breeze, there should still be some small clean, waves on the incoming tide.   Shred factor 6/10

Winds are back to the East at around 10 knots on the Mid Coast early and conditions are clean, and there’s even some actual swell. It’s dropped overnight but there are still 2′ waves on the reefs coming up to high tide at 0720. Swell should hold up alright as the tide heads out but the reefs will be exposed after 10am. The beach breaks will be good through low tide early arvo, and there will be waves on the reefs after lunch – but South winds will add some bumps. Sou-easters should return in the evening.  Shred factor 7/10

Winds are around to an onshore sou-wester on the Mid Coast this morning, and conditions are a bumpy. There’s a hint of new swell but the wind is messing things up, with surf around 1-2′ and full coming up to high tide. The outgoing tide will effect it mid morning but the beach breaks will improve with less water, and should have some messy waves through low tide at lunch. The arvo should see winds tend more Southerly at up to 20 knots, possibly SE by evening. It’ll be worth checking it for a late one in case it cleans up a bit. Shred factor 4/10

Mid Coast

Winds are just a puff from the NE on the Mid Coast early and conditions are glassy, but once again small. There are tiny lines rolling up the gulf but the swell is only producing shin-high waves along the coast. It’s pretty full going through high tide, but as the tide drops and North winds pick up, it’t not going to improve. NW winds look like settling in for the better part of the day, until a W-SW change arrives late arvo / evening. It’ll most likely be too late for a stormy. Shred factor 1/10

Winds are light from the NW on the Mid Coast early and conditions are clean, just a slight bump from the light onshore breeze. We’re back to zero swell and no surf, but there are signs of life. The first pulses of a 19 second period long-range swell have hit the Cape Du Coudiec buoy this morning, and by later today we will hopefully see some of it start to sneak in to the gulf. Winds are forecast to remain light and variable all day, so it should remain clean and possibly glassy after lunch. Watch what the buoy does and watch the incoming tide from about 2pm onwards – that will reveal if anything is gonna happen.  Shred factor 1/10

Winds are light from the SSE on the Mid Coast early and conditions are clean, with  a bit of leftover bump from yesterday’s stormy. There’s even a few waves leftover, with surf around 1 – 2′ and the tide just starting to head out. The dropping tide will kill it a bit during the morning, and if the wind picks up from the South again exposed stretches will become bumpy. The good news is that later in the day winds will swing more offshore E-SE and keep it clean. There’s also a chance of a lift in swell later today, so it’s worth keeping an eye on it.  Shred factor 5/10

The cool change rolled through last night and turned winds onshore and also whipped up some small chop in the gulf. This morning winds are tending NW at 10 – 15 knots, and there’s some leftover 2′ wind + small ground swell on the Mid Coast. We’ll probably see more of that today as the breeze picks up and shifts onshore again to around 25 knots after lunch. The fast moving front will quickly switch to a sou-wester, then fresh Southerly wind by late arvo. A stormy is unlikely, but there’ll be some sort of messy / bumpy 2′ wave throughout the day. Mid Coast

Conditions are glassy on the Mid Coast early with light NNE winds, and as we’ve come to expect, no swell. The tide has just started to head out, and it will be very low through the lunch hour today. Winds should be light for the next few hours so conditions will remain clean, but a Southerly breeze forecast to kick in after lunch and add a few bumps. There’ll be no change in the swell situation today, it will remain flat.

0830 the wind has swung onshore WSW and there’s been a few  drops of rain, looking the change is moving in. Conditions are now choppy, still flat. Shred factor 1/10

It’s looking like another day spent looking out over St. Vincent’s lake asking “when will there be waves?”, and the answer remains “not any time soon”. Winds are light from the East and conditions are glassy with a few tiny lines of WSW swell as we head into the long weekend. The forecast predicts the wind will stay pretty light all day, probably shifting to a light southerly sea breeze after lunch. Should be another hot Autumn day, but also another flat one. Conditions are glassy on the Mid Coast early with very light North winds, but no swell. The tide is slowly draining out to a low at 11:45 but overall there’s not much movement today in the wave of this week’s dodge. Winds should be light for the next few hours but a sea breeze is forecast to kick in after lunch and add a few bumps. Not that it really matters, because waves will remain unsurfably small all day.  Shred factor 0/10
