South Coast

There’s actually a light offshore Northerly blowing on the on the South Coast this morning, and conditions are looking clean early. Swell is small again, with surf around 1 – 2′  along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and only slightly bigger around at Waits / Parson’s. The next few hours will be OK for some Mally waves, but at some stage after lunch winds are predicted to swing onshore Southerly and pick up to 10 – 15 knots. Conditions will start to deteriorate with the onshores and the rest of the day will be a write off. Get on it while you can this morning – this may be it for the whole weekend. Shred factor 7/10

Light onshore Southerly winds are adding a bit of a wobble on the South Coast this morning, and swell remains small. Surf is around 1 – 2′ and not looking particularly energetic along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with lumpy 2′ waves around at Waits and Parson’s. Winds will stay onshore and generally S-SE all day, possibly up around 15 knots after lunch. Conditions will remain messy for the better part of the day, but there should be a window of light offshores tomorrow. Shred factor 6/10

Winds have dropped to nothing and conditions are glassy on the on the South Coast early this morning, although swell is still carrying  a bit of a wobble. It’s also smaller, with surf around 2′  along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and Waits / Parson’s a bit bigger. The little bit of West in the (light) wind will favour Waits over Parson’s. The next couple of hours are about as good as it’ll get,  with onshore South winds returning mid – late morning and increasing to 15 knots for the arvo. Conditions will go from lumps to slops pretty quick. Shred factor 6/10

Onshores are under 10 knots on the South Coast this morning, but conditions are still looking pretty mucky. Surf is around 3 – 4′  along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with lumpy 2′ waves around at Chiton. Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger, but again not worth it with the wind. The breeze is forecast to remain light for a few hours this morning before picking up from the SSE after lunch to around 20 knots. Try Middleton Bay / Point if you’re desperate.  Shred factor 4/10

The sadness continues on the South Coast this morning with 15 knot SSE winds and sloppy conditions right along the coast. Swell is slightly up on yesterday with 3′ of brown mush along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and  1 – 2′ slop around at Chiton. Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger, but again not worth it with the wind. The breeze is forecast to get up around 25 knots from the SSE after lunch, so the we’ll have to put up with the pain a bit longer. At least until Wednesday / Thursday. Shred factor 3/10

Onshores continue on the South Coast this morning with 15 knot Southerlies making a mess of it. Swell is smaller as well, with sloppy 2 – 3′ waves along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and sad  1′ waves around at Chiton. Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger, but again not worth the effort with the wind. The breeze is forecast to get up around 25 knots from the SSE after lunch, so you can pretty much write it off today. It looks like more of the same for the next few days. Shred factor 4/10

Onshore SE winds at 15 knots are making a mess of it on the South Coast this morning, and looks like settling in for a few days. Surf is around 3 – 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch and all overt he place, with lumpy 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger but pretty nasty, although some other sneaky spots around that side may be working this morning. Winds will stay onshore and generally S-SE all day, possibly gusting over 20 knots after lunch. Conditions will remain messy into and over the weekend. Shred factor 3/10

Winds are ’round to the SW at 15 knots on the South Coast this morning, and conditions are a bit bumpy despite a well lined up swell. There are bumpy 2 – 3′ waves along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with 1 – 2′ waves around at Chiton. Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger, and the Point at Waits may offer shelter for a while as long as the wind is more West than South. Eventually the whole coast looks like it will be hammered by fresh onshore SE-S winds over 20 knots, and the arvo will be a sloppy mess. The next couple of hours are about as good as it’ll get for the next few days. Shred factor 6/10
