South Coast

Conditions are clean and glassy on South Coast early, with light NNW winds. Swell is smooth and well lined up, just not all that big  with surf  around 2′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch. Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger and a better bet for shortboarders.  A cool change is on the way, and ahead of it NW winds will pick up and possibly blow it out, with a shift to the SW early afternoon. Conditions could start to deteriorate anytime from now on, but you might sneak a few if you’re quick. Shred factor 7/10

Swell has picked up slightly again on South Coast overnight and winds are light offshore from the NW early. Unfortunately surface conditions are still  a bit wobbly from onshores overnight,  with surf  around 3′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch. Chiton / Gap are around 2′, Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger if you’re chasing some more power. The forecast predicts light / variable winds for the better part of the day, so the arvo will hopefully be a bit cleaner / straighter. Shred factor 6/10

Swell has picked up a bit on South Coast overnight, but conditions are lumpy with 10 knot East winds early. Surf is around 2′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch, Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger and Parson’s Point will offer some shelter. The breeze will pick up during the morning, and the forecast predicts onshore SSE winds at 15 – 20 knots for the arvo. It’ll be lumpy turning to sloppy for the remainder of the day, tomorrow is looking better. Shred factor 6/10

It’s cooler on the  South Coast this morning with the wind off the sea, and slightly bumpy conditions with 10 knot Southerlies. Surf is only about 1′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch, Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger but quality is unlikely to impress. The breeze will pick up during the morning, so too will the swell but it’ll be messy after lunch and heading into the weekend. Probably won’t get much over 1 – 2′ today anyway. Shred factor 4/10

Conditions are clean South Coast this morning with light offshore North winds, but fading swell. Surf is around 1 – 2′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with Waits or Parson’s a better bet for shortboarders. Northerly winds will pick up this morning and may gust around 20 knots soon, blowing out the small swell along exposed stretches. A W-SW change is forecast, and will probably hit early arvo. Surf will remain small and become bumpy after lunch.  Shred factor 7/10

Winds are light NE on the South Coast this morning and conditions are glassy, but very slightly wobbly from sou-easters yesterday. Surf is around 2′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch and 1- 2′, with around at Chiton / Gap. Waitpinga and Parson;s should be a bit bigger, winds will slightly favour Parson’s. The forecast predicts E – NE winds at 10 – 15 knots for the rest of the day, so hopefully the breeze has more North than East in it. Swell may fade a bit after lunch, but it should be fairly clean all day. Shred factor 7/10

Conditions have straightened up a bit on the South Coast this morning with winds from the WSW at around 7 knots. The Middleton – Goolwa stretch is sort of lined up with a bit of leftover bump at around 3- 4′, with peaky / glassy 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. The next few hours will be OK for a paddle, but winds will gradually turn more onshore Southerly. The arvo will be messy with 10 – 15 knot SSE winds.  Shred factor 6/10

It’s still onshore and messy on the South Coast this morning with SSW winds around 25 knots. The Middleton – Goolwa stretch is mushy at around 3- 4′, with 2 – 3′ junky surf around at Chiton / Gap. Nothing much will change today with onshores persisting all day and swell fading slightly toward evening. Try Middleton Bay or possibly The Dump if you’re absolutely desperate. Shred factor 3/10

Onshores SW winds are hammering the South Coast with gusts over 35 knots early. Conditions are big and sloppy with surf around 5’+ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 3 – 5′ between The Dump and Knight’s beach. Winds will remain strong onshore all day and there’s not enough west in the wind for highly sheltered spots. Try The Dump for a grovel, but you’re probably better off giving it a miss. Easterly winds have added plenty of lumps on the South Coast again this morning, but at least there’s still some swell. Surf is around 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 2′ around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger and winds will favour Parson’s. The forecast predicts SE winds to 20 or more knots after lunch, so the arvo will revert to typical summer slops. Shred factor 5/10
