South Coast

Winds are light from the East on the South Coast this morning, and conditions are clean but lumpy from the wind. Conditions are sloppy with surf around 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 2′ around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger and winds will favour Parson’s. The forecast predicts SE winds to 15 knots after lunch, so it’ll go from lumpy to sloppy later.  Shred factor 6/10

Onshore sou-easters have left a few lumps on the South Coast overnight, but it’s glassy early with light NE winds. Surf is around 3 – 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 2′ around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger but probably struggling to hold the sets. Sou-easters are forecast for the rest of the day so the arvo will probably revert to mush, but there’s probably  a few hours of OK conditions with light offshores this morning.  Shred factor 6/10

It’s looking good on the South Coast right now, but conditions are on the turn. Surf is clean at around 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 2′ around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger and worth  a look early. A SW change is on the way and winds are already wafting onshore up the Goolwa end. Once the change arrives conditions will deteriorate pretty quickly, with 15 -20 knot SW winds for the rest of the day. Shred factor 7/10

Onshores have blown up on the South Coast overnight, with SSW winds gusting over 25 knots early. Conditions are sloppy with surf around 3 -5′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 3′ around at Chiton / Gap. Winds will remain dead onshore for most of the morning, but there is a ray of hope with a shift to W-SW later. The breeze should also ease a bit, so Middleton Bay / Point of The Dump may be OK for a grovel mid – late arvo.  Shred factor 3/10

Swell has eased  a bit on the South Coast overnight, but conditions are glassy early with light North winds. Surf is around 2 – 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, 1 – 2′ around at Chiton / Gap.  Wait’s and Parson’s will be bigger, and will be worth a sniff early. A change is on the way, and behind it winds will back around to the  W-SW and pick up, possibly gusting over 25 knots after lunch. Conditions will become blown out first, then messy as winds shift more onshore. Get on it ASAP.  Shred factor 8/10

Winds are cross-offshore on the South Coast again this morning, tending WNW at around 10 knots. Surf is reasonably clean and around 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with bigger sets. There are  clean 2 – 3′ waves between The Dump and Knight’s, but Wait’s and Parson’s will be struggling again to hold the size.
