South Coast

Looking good on South Coast early morning with offshore North winds around 10 knots, and clean condition. Surf is around 3 – 4′  along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and there’s glassy 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Unfortunately the goodness won’t last as NW winds begin to pick up and blow it out, with gusts possibly up to 30 knots by mid morning. Fresh Nor-westers will then settle in for the day by the looks, so exposed stretches will be blown out. A Westerly change is expected to arrive in the evening, and winds will ease from the West behind it. Shred factor 7/10

Winds are cross-offshore on South Coast this morning tending WNW at around 12 knots, and conditions are fairly clean. Surf is around 4′ with a few bigger sets along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and glassy 3′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Winds look like they’ll tend more offshore after lunch so it should be even straighter and cleaner by mid arvo with NW winds around 10 – 15 knots. Swell has peaked and will probably ease a bit during the day.  Shred factor 6/10

Winds are offshore on South Coast this morning, but it’s a bit blown out with NW winds gusting around 25 knots. Swell has continued to build with waves around 3 – 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and less wind effected 3′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Swell will get bigger today but exposed spots will cop it from Nor-westers tending more Westerly after lunch at 25 knots. Middleton Bay may be an option later, also the Dump will offer partial shelter from the wind. The forecast predicts the breeze will ease a bit mid – late arvo, so keep an eye on the Victor – Port Elliot stretch. Shred factor 6/10

Winds are on the turn on South Coast this morning, tending Westerly at around 10 – 15 knots after Northerlies all night. Swell has picked up a little and it’s still clean,  with waves around 1 – 2′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch. Waitpinga or Parson’s is still a better bet for a shortboard wave at around 2 – 3′.  Swell may build a bit during the day, but it’s going to get pretty blown out by the looks with 30 knot WNW winds forecast. Sheltered spots won’t be big enough, and exposed spots will be getting hammered. Waits Point may hold out for a little while. Shred factor 6/10

Waitpinga or Parson’s is still a better bet for a shortboard wave at around 1 – 2′.  Swell may build a bit after lunch, and Northerly winds up to 20 knots should ease off again mid arvo and possibly glass it off toward evening. Conditions are clean on South Coast this morning with light offshore NNE winds, but swell is still on the small side. Surf is still inconsistent and around 1′ with occasional bigger sets along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch. Waitpinga or Parson’s a better bet for a shortboard wave at around 1 – 2′. Swell may build a bit during the day but so will the wind, possibly gusting over 20 knots by mid morning. It’s looking likely the rest of the day will be small and blown out, so grab what you can early.  Shred factor 7/10

It’s looking good on South Coast this morning with light offshore NNE winds and glassy conditions. Swell is in the small size range, with surf an inconsistent 1′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and Waits or Parson’s a better bet for a shortboard wave. It’s looking good on South Coast this morning with light offshore NNE winds and clean conditions. Swell has continued to wind down, with surf around 2 – 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 3′ around at Waits & Parson’s. Winds are forecast to remain light offshore all day and probably won’t get much over 10 knots from the N-NE. Swell will continue its downward trend as we head into the weekend, so it’s worth braving the chilly air and water to grab a few waves this morning. Shred factor 7/10

Onshores have subsided on the South Coast and winds are tending light Easterly this morning. Swell still ha s a bit of  a lump in it with surf around 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch and peaky / glassy 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap.  The forecast predicts winds will be a bit Easterly all day and maintain a bit of a lump, but a Nor-easter will probably kick in after lunch and straighten it up a bit. Waiting until later today might be a good plan. Shred factor 6/10

It’s still onshore on the South Coast this morning, with Southerlies around 15 – 20 knot and messy conditions. Surf is around 4 – 5′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch and there’s messy 2 – 4′ waves between The Dump and Chiton / Gap.  The forecast predicts winds will tend more SE at around 15 knots after lunch, but in any case it’s not gonna clean up for at least another day or so.
