South Coast

It’s looking good on the South Coast early with very light offshore North winds and a clean, well lined up swell.  Surf is around 2′ along the Middleton – Day St. stretch, and maybe a tad bigger on the  sets down toward Cliffs and Goolwa. Waits and Parson’s should be a bit bigger in the 3′ range and worth a look early.  N-NW winds will pick up during the morning, and may get up around 20 knots before lunchtime. A gusty W-SW change is expected to arrive sometime early to mid arvo.

Winds are just a puff from the North on the South Coast early, and conditions are clean and glassy. Surf is around 2 – 3′ along the Middleton Goolwa stretch, and lining up better than it did yesterday. Chiton / Gap are a bit hit miss at around 2′, but Waits and Parson’s should be in the 3 – 4′ range and worth a look. The forecast predicts winds will go Easterly during the morning and tend more onshore SE after lunch at 10 – 15 knots. It’s most likely the arvo will be not as good as this morning as the lumps return, so get on it ASAP.

For maybe the first time in 2016 winds have swung offshore on the South Coast, tending very light NW at around 2 knots.  Unfortunately days of onshore SE winds have left plenty of lumps in the swell, so it’s glassy but still pretty wobbly looking. Surf is around 3 – 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with glassy 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. It should straighten up during the day, and light variable  winds will hopefully remain out of the Northern quarter after lunch. Swell also may build a bit later, so it won’t hurt to wait. Time to stop by the No Tuna Pen protest at Victor ( 10am ) and then head off for a wave.

Waits and Parson’s will be bigger, Parson’s may offer partial shelter and some pretty solid waves. Sou-easters are forecast for the rest of the day, and after lunch those onshores will pick up to around 15 knots and re-introduce the slops. Early it’s not to bad though. Shred factor: 6

Onshore SE winds are around 10 – 15 knots on the South Coast this morning, and there hasn’t been much change in conditions. Surf is still around 3 – 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch and sloppy, with messy  2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger but again but only Parson’s may offer partial shelter. Other spots round that side may be worth a look before winds go more direct onshore, with frexh Southerlies predicted for the arvo.
