South Coast

Winds are light onshore from the South on the South Coast this morning, with overall conditions a bit lumpy but mot too wind effected early. Surf is around 2 – 3′ along Middleton – Goolwa  stretch, Waits and Parson’s will be slightly bigger and worth a look for a bit of power. The window will be small today and onshores could start to mess it up anytime from now onward. Swell will probably build a bit, but it looks like it’ll be a mess by lunchtime with 20 knot South winds. Shred factor 6/10

Our one day of offshores is over on the South Coast, and we’re back to bumpy onshore conditions. South winds are around 12 knots early and surf is only around 1′ along Middleton – Goolwa  stretch. Waits and Parson’s will be slightly bigger but there’ll be no improvement in quality around that side of the coast. Southerly winds are forecast to get up around 20 knots during the day, so it’ll be mush after lunch.  The rest of the week looks like more of the same, but the weekend is a ray of hope. Finally winds are offshore on the South Coast this morning, and conditions are clean with NNE winds around 7 knots. Swell has eased overnight, with surf around 2′ along Middleton – Goolwa  stretch, and 2 – 3′ surf around at Waits and Parson’s. It’ll be OK for the next few hours and well worth a trip if you can swing it, but the good times won’t last. A SW change is on the way, and onshore SW-S winds at 20 knots will arrive early arvo. Conditions will quickly deteriorate with the change – get on it ASAP. Shred factor 7/10

The forecast predicts winds will pick up to 15 – 20 knots from the East, maybe tending more NE by late arvo. Conditions will remain on the lumpy side all day. Shred factor 6/10

Winds are from the West at around 7 knots on the South Coast this morning, and conditions are about the cleanest they’ve been in  days. Swell, sadly, is a bit WSW in direction so surf is only 1 – 2′ along Middleton – Goolwa  stretch. Waits will be a bit bigger and the pick of it for  shortboard wave early. It’ll begin to deteriorate from now onward, with winds tending more SW and then dead onshore Southerly at 20 knots after lunch. Get on it ASAP… now’s about as good as it’ll be all day. Winds are from the ESE at around 10 knots on the South Coast this morning, and conditions are really lumpy again. Surf is around 3′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch and peaky 2′ around at Chiton. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger with winds favouring Parson’s. The breeze will tend more onshore SE after lunch at around 20 knots, so it’ll transition from lumpy to mushy and stay that way. The weekend looks like more of the same, sadly. Shred factor 5/10

Winds are onshore from SSE at around 12 knots on the South Coast this morning. and conditions bumpy. Swell has picked up overnight with surf around 2′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch. Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger, but won’t offer any improvement in quality. Onshores look like getting up around 20 knots or more after lunch, so the lumps will turn to slops. Swell will probably build a bit.  Shred factor 5/10

Winds are light from the North on the South Coast this morning and conditions are clean, but tiny. Surf along Middleton – Goolwa stretch is barely 1′, with Waits and Parson’s about the only options for a shortboard wave this morning. The forecast predicts N-NE winds up to 20 knots during the morning, probably shifting onshore SW by midday. The arvo will be messy and onshore, and probably almost flat. Shred factor 5/10

Winds are light from the NE on the South Coast this morning and it’s glassy, but days of sou-easters have left lumps. Surf is back to around 2′ along Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger and winds favouring Parson’s. The forecast predicts NE winds all day, probably not much over 10 – 15 knots after lunch. The offshores should help straighten it up a bit, but swell will remain on the small side all day.
