South Coast

It’s clean and glassy on the South Coast this morning with very light NNE winds, it’s also pretty cold! Swell has dropped overnight with surf back to around 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with clean 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s should be in the 4′ range and a bit less hairy than yesterday. The forecast predicts N-NW winds at 15 – 20 knots later, so it may get a bit blown out along exposed stretches. Swell will possibly ease a bit after lunch too, but it’ll be offshore and straight all day. Shred factor 8/10

We’re back to offshores on the South Coast this morning, and conditions are looking good with winds around 5 knots from the NW. Surf around is 3- 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with clean 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger, and should be could for the Hurley Winter Classic today which kicks off around 8am. Winds will remain offshore all day and probably won’t get much above 10 knots, and the weather looks clear too. It’s well worth a trip. Shred factor 8/10

Conditions are semi-clean on the South Coast this morning with 10 knot WNW  winds. Surf around is 3- 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with clean 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Unfortunately winds looks set to shift SW and then onshore Southerly, and conditions will become choppy during the day as a result. A shift to SE winds during the arvo won’t help things much, although the breeze should be back under 10 knots by evening. It’ll be bumpy / lumpy for the better part of the day.  Shred factor 6/10

Conditions are fairly clean on the South Coast this morning with 10 knot WNW winds. Surf around is 3- 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch and lining up OK, with clean 2′ waves around at Chton / Gap. The breeze will pick up during the morning and conditions will probably become blown out in a couple of hours, although Middleton Bay will offer a bit of shelter. A gusty W-SW change will arrive at some point after lunch, and conditions will deteriorate further. It won’t be big enough for sheltered spots, but conditions will ease and generally improve heading into the long weekend. Shred factor 6/10

Conditions are bumpy on the South Coast this morning with winds around to the SW at 20 knots. Surf around is 3- 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch but quality is poor, but the Bay should offer partial shelter. The Chiton / Gap side is bumpy and around 2′, and swell’s not really getting into The Dump where it’ cleaner. The forecast predicts winds may get up around 30 knots during the day, easing off again mid arvo. Swell should build  a bit, but whether it’s enough for sheltered spots to get going remains to be seen. Shred factor 5/10

South Coast

Conditions are clean on the South Coast this morning with offshore NE winds around 15 knots, but conditions look like becoming blown out soon. Swell still has a lot of west in it but it’s holding up ok with surf around 3- 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch. It’s cleaner and 2′ around at Chiton / Gap,  and bigger out the other side of Victor with wind favouring Parson’s early, Waits Point later. The breeze is headed NW and is forecast to gust around 30 knots by midday, so there’ll be nowhere to hide after that. Get on it early. Shred factor 7/10

WSW winds are still up around 20 knts on the South Coast this morning, but conditions are starting to moderate. Swell still has a lot of west in it and exposed stretches are still pretty blown out. Surf is bumpy and around 3- 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, but the Bay is offering partial shelter.  It’s cleaner and 2′ around at Chiton / Gap,  and bigger out the other side of Victor. Conditions will improve all day today with winds decreasing and becoming variable by early arvo, possibly offshore NE-N by late arvo. Anytime after 1pm should have fairly clean waves, worth a paddle.  Shred factor 5/10

Westerly winds have eased back to around 15 – 20 knts on the South Coast this morning, after gusting around 30 knots overnight. Swell has picked up but it still has a lot of west in it, and exposed stretches are still pretty blown out. Surf is around 4 – 5′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, 3′ around at Chiton / Gap,  and bigger out the other side of Victor. Swell will probably build a bit this morning so breaks between Port Elliot and Victor will be the go, and you’ll get a b it of wind shade up the Dump end. The breeze will remain out of the West all day, possibly gusting near 30 knots before easing mid – late arvo. Sheltered spots may be working around the middle of the day, so it’s worth going for a squiz to check them.  Shred factor 6/10

Conditions are clean on the South Coast this morning with offshore North winds around 10 knots. Surf is around 2 – 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, 1′ around at Chiton / Gap,  and 3 – 4′ around at  Waits and Parson’s. The bad news is that strong NW winds are expected to come up during the morning, and it’ll be blown out by morning smoko time. A front will swing winds west and then SW during the arvo, with gusts to 30 knots forecast. The westerly vector in the swell will probably exclude highly sheltered spots, but there is a chance of a late one at The Dump or Middleton Bay. Shred factor 7/10
