South Coast

Conditions are blown out on the South Coast early with NNW winds gusting close to 30 knots. Surf is around is 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with part sheltered 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger, but both getting hammered by the wind. A cold front is on the way and winds will shift Westerly in its wake, probably sometime between mid morning and lunch. Exposed spots will be a write off all day but part sheltered spots may improve during the afternoon as the swell builds.  Shred factor 5/10

Conditions are clean but a  bit blown out on the South Coast early, with NNW winds gusting 20 – 25 knots. Surf is around is 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with part sheltered 2′ waves around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger,  wind direction will favour Waits but it’ll be blown out. The forecast predicts a W-SW change will arrive sometime around lunchtime, with strong winds behind it. Swell’s not big enough for sheltered spots to get going, and every where else will be stormy and wind effected. Try Middleton Bay late arvo maybe, with moderating winds toward sunset.  Shred factor 6/10

There’s actually a puff of offshore Northerly on the South Coast this morning, but sou-easters overnight and yesterday have left conditions pretty lumpy . Surf around is 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with peaky 3′ waves around at Chton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger and closing out mostly, although winds will favour Parson’s in beside the point. The forecast predicts winds will tend more onshore SE for the rest of the day, maybe becoming light and variable mid arvo. Shred factor 5/10

ENE winds around 10 knots are adding a bit of a summery lump on the South Coast this morning. Surf around is 3 – 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with peaky 2 – 3′ waves around at Chton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger, winds will favour Parson’s in beside the point. The forecast predicts winds will tend more onshore SE at 15 – 20 knots for the  rest of the day, so the arvo will probably be sloppy. Shred factor 6/10

Conditions are fairly clean on the South Coast this morning with 7 knot West winds. Surf around is 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch and lining up OK, with clean 2 – 3′ waves around at Chton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger, winds will favour Waits in beside the point but it may struggle to hold the swell. It’s not looking good for winds heading into the weekend, with onshores expected to blow up pretty soon and turn it to mush. 20 knot Southerlies are forecast for the rest of the day, and once they arrive it’ll be all over. Conditions are clean on the South Coast again this morning with light NNE winds, and swell continuing from yesterday. Surf is around 3 – 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, 2′ at Chiton and bigger around at Waits & Parson’s. It’s not quite as cold this morning and should still be a reasonable day with 10 – 15 knot North winds possibly dropping under 10 knots after lunch. A SW-S change is due later but probably won’t arrive until this evening. Shred factor 8/10

It’s clean and glassy on the South Coast again this morning with light NNE winds, and a lift in swell overnight. Surf is back to around 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, 2′ at Chiton and bigger around at Waits & Parson’s. It’s still pretty chilly but it’ll warm up a bit during the morning, and 10 – 15 knot offshores will keep it clean all day. Get out there and enjoy some winter Fleurieu goodness. Work permitting.  Shred factor 8/10

South Coast

It’s clean and glassy on the South Coast this morning with very light NNE winds, but swell has continued to ease from the weekend. Surf is back to around 1 – 2′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, with the Waits / Parson’s side probably your best bet for a shortboard wave. It’s not far off freezing outside at the moment, but it’ll warm up a bit with moderate NW winds mid morning. The breeze won’t get much over 15 knots, and should drop out early – mid arvo for a possible glass off. Swell may pick up a bit during the day.  Shred factor 7/10
