SA surf outlook Nov 25

Another crazy week of atypical Spring weather has just rolled past, and it’s been pretty generous to Southoz surfers.

The South Coast scored offshore winds and clean conditions over much of the weekend, and 4′ waves ( admittedly, mostly closeouts ) for the Nudie Boardriders Battle at Waits Point on Saturday. Yorkes was great Thursday to Monday, and even the fickle Mid Coast has its best day in months on Sunday with glassy 2′ waves hitting every single reef break.

It’s hard to believe, but this weather seems it’s stuck and will stick around until the next forecast… at the very least. SA is in the grip of a minor change this afternoons and winds are fresh from the South… but there will be more opportunities to score over the coming days.

Winds will still be fresh from the SSW early Tuesday, so the South Coast will be choppy, and so too will the Mid Coast and most of Yorke Peninsula. Surf will be around 1 – 2′ on The Mid, and choppy 2 – 3′ at Middleton.

The breeze should drop out overnight, and early Tuesday we should be back to very light NE winds over the Fleurieu Wednesday morning. The Mid Coast will be back to around 1′ and clean, but the South Coast should have clean 2 – 3′ waves in the early morning. The breeze will swing Westerly at 10 knots after lunch, which will still be OK for the Southern Fleurieu.

Thursday morning is looking glassy on the Fleurieu and Yorke peninsulas early, with variable winds tending southerly later and picking up 10 – 15 knots. The Mid Coast will remain around 1′, but Middleton should offer glassy 3′ waves for the dawny.  South facing breaks at Yorkes will be pretty good too. The Southerlies will chop everywhere up after lunch.

A southerly wind will be up early on Friday, blowing 10 knots early and swinging WSW to 20 knots after lunch. The Mid Coast will be messy, around 1′ at first but building to a semi-stormy 2′ later.  Middleton will be in the 3 – 4′ range but the whole South Coast will be wind affected and messy all day.

The breeze will drop to around 10 knots from the SW early Saturday, so the Mid Coast will still be bumpy. Middleton Bay may be Ok for an early paddle at around 3′ with light cross-onshore winds.

Sunday will a rare, decent sized SE swell wasted with 15 knots onshore winds. The Mid Coast will be around 1′ and possibly clean for an hour or two very early. Main spots on the South Coast will be messy and wind affected, but if the wind is SE early, a few lesser-known spots may be well worth a look. Always a long shot… but one that occasionally pays off…
