Mid Coast

5pm update: Winds are round to the SW and conditions are bumpy, with small lines and the odd 1′ set. Won’t clean up today, but more swell isn’t far off.

6am : North winds are gusting over 30 knots on the Mid Coast early, pushing bumps and whitecaps down the gulf. All we have is wind swell this morning, but the wind is strong enough that it’s already 1 – 2′. This “reverse stormy” has probably peaked already, and winds should start to moderate from about now on. The forecast predicts we’ll be back to 15 knot N-NW winds by late morning, and possibly even no wind and glassy conditions by early arvo.  At some stage a Southerly will arrive, around 10 knots at first then swinging SW and picking up 15 – 20 knots by late arvo. It’ll then be bumpy / choppy for the rest of the day, but there may be a small window of peaky / glassy waves in the middle somewhere. Shred factor 2/10
