South Coast

The wind has dropped to around 10 – 15 knots on the South Coast early, and it’s almost trying to swing offshore, tending WNW at 15 knots. The swell has a lot of west in it but it’s bigger with 2 – 3′ surf between Middleton and Goolwa. The Bay is part sheltered and semi-clean, so too is The Dump albeit with less size. There are 1 – 2′ waves between Chiton Rocks and Knight’s, Waits and Parson’s will be struggling to hold the swell. There may be other options around that size of Victor though. The BoM predicts WNW winds all day, remaining in the 10 – 20 knot range and possibly only 10 knots a lot of the time. The swell will lift as it tends more SW, and it’s worth keeping an eye on the swell magnets – especially in the vicinity of Port Elliot. If the wind stays where it is, there should be some clean, solid waves after lunch. Outlook for the rest of the week is in the latest surf forecast.
