Mid Coast

After 2 weeks of nothing, the Mid Coast is finally showing signs of life, with a few small lines of new swell showing on the reefs. Unfortunately, the tide is pretty full and waves are only around 1′ on the sets, and oddly South Port seems to be showing a bit more of it. As the tide drains out not a lot will change, winds should stay light from the East and keep it clean – probably until late morning. The breeze will swing more SE and pick up, possibly to 15 knots by early arvo. After 2pm it looks like it’ll be nearer 20 knot from the SSE, so anywhere exposed will have bumps. The swell should lift on the incoming tide, and there should be some 1 – 2′ sets by mid – late arvo. The breeze should go more SE again in the evening, which may help clean it up a bit for a late paddle. Outlook for the rest of the week is in the latest surf forecast. Shred factor 3/10

2:30pm update: Swell has built this morning abe there are a few good sized sets pushing in at the Northern end of South Port. The reefs are still pretty shallow but there are a few waist high waves breaking at selected spots, with lots of lines. The wind has picked up from the South and added bumps, but there should be some chest high waves by late arvo.
