South Coast

The wind has dropped right out overnight and gone to a light offshore Nor-wester on the South Coast early, and conditions are clean and glassy. The swell has lifted slightly and it’s well lined up, with waves around 3 – 4′ at Middleton, and a few bigger sets down through Day St. and toward Goolwa. There are glassy 2-4′ waves around at Chiton / Gap, Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger and also nice and clean early. The BoM predicts the wind will swing West during the morning and pick up to 15 knots or so, then SW after lunch. Part sheltered spots like Middleton Bay will probably hold up OK as the wind swings, but exposed beaches will become a bit bumpy. By late arvo it’ll be onshore, so get on it this morning. Swell is on the rise. Outlook heading into the first long weekend of 2020 is in the latest surf forecast. Shred factor 8/10
