South Coast

It’s been over a week of clean conditions and nicely lined up surf on the South Coast, and at this stage, that’s not about to change. Early the breeze is from the North at 10 knots and seas are smooth – but the swell is smaller this morning. Surf is around 1 – 2′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, Middleton is at the smaller end of the scale and looks marginal off the Point save the odd long, waist-high peeler. Waits and Parson’s will get you your jollies on a shortboard with a few waist – chest high sets, and both beaches will be perfectly clean. The BoM predicts the offshores will freshen, possibly to around 20 knots by mid-morning. If the breeze gets that strong open beaches may become blown out, but it’s not looking like one of the days. New swell later will probably be too westerly, but it’s looking better heading into the weekend. The old surf forecast is looking a bit tired, so I’ll replace it tonight.
