South Coast

Well, the wind *is* offshore and the South Coast this morning, but it’s a case of “too much of a good thing”, at least at the moment. Northerlies are gusting over 25 knots and anywhere exposed is a bit blown out. It’s a shame because the swell is nice and straight, and surf is around 3′ along the Day St. to Cliffs stretch. Waits and Parson’s will be bigger but both will be getting hammered by the wind – Waits Point might offer partial shelter. Don’t write it off for the day though – the wind will blow itself out soon ahead of a late Southerly change. Even buy mid-morning the offshore should be back to 15 knots or so, possibly even under 10 knots early arvo. If you can hold off until late morning, you’ll score nice conditions for a few hours. Picking the window will involve an element of luck, as always. The wind will go onshore at some stage and destroy it, but hopefully, that won’t be until this evening. Check the updated surf forecast to see how the rest of the long weekend is looking.
