Mid Coast

7 knot North winds are adding a bit of a lump on the Mid Coast this morning, but there are a few waves about. Surf is around 2′ on the reefs and pretty full coming up to high tide at 7am. It looks like a NW wind is not far away, and the forecast indicates it will get up in the 20 knot range by mid-morning. The outgoing tide won’t have too much effect initially, but after 9am it’ll slow things down as the wind kicks in. There’s a W-SW change coming after lunch, so the wind may be on the turn through low tide at lunch. Trigs and the beach breaks will have bumpy 2′ waves through the middle part of the day, and a lot of reef will be exposed. The swell should kick a bit on the incoming tide but quality won’t be great with 20 – 25 knot W-SW winds. Seaford will offer a semi-stormy grovel for the grommmies after school, with chest high, onshore waves. The weekend will kick off in similar fashion, more on that in the latest surf forecast. Shred factor 3/10.
