Mid Coast

The weather is on the turn on the Mid Coast early with a warm and NNE wind gusting up to 30 knots. The sea is flat and blown out, and nothing much will change in the regard for the next few hours. A westerly change is on themid1

mid2 way, ahead of it winds will tend North, then NW at up to 30 knots. Depending on the timing of the front we may get a  stormy building along the Mid with strong onshore Westerly winds. The earlier it hits, the bigger it’ll get – but most likely tomorrow will be bigger.  Shred factor 1/10

South Coast

SE winds overnight have left things a bit lumpy on the South Coast this morning, but winds are trying to go offshore. Surf is around 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 2′ around at Chiton / Gap. Waits and Parson’s will be a bit bigger, and the East in the wind will favour Parson’s. The forecast predicts winds will shift more NE – N during the morning to around 15 knots, so swell should be a bit straighter after lunch. It won’t hurt to leave it a few hours today. Mid Coast

We’re back to clean and glassy conditions on the Mid Coast this morning, with light offshore East winds. There are still some small waves sneaking in with surf around 1′ on the reefs, and the odd bigger set coming up to high tide. The dropping tide will kill it a bit mid morning, but the lower tide will favour the beachies early arvo. The incoming tide may offer a small lift in size / consistency mid – late arvo, and SE – NE winds will keep it clean all day.  Shred factor 6/10

South Coast

Conditions are  clean on the South Coast early, and fresh offshores overnight have dropped to around 15 knots early. Surf is around 2 – 3′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 2′ around at Chiton / Gap.  Waits and Parson’s will be  a bit bigger. Winds are on the turn with onshore sou-westers on the way, arriving anytime from now on. Conditions will deteriorate and become messy with onshore Southerlies at 10 – 15 knots for the rest of the day. Get on it ASAP. Shred factor 7/10

Northerly winds have been up all night, but they’ve almost dropped out on the Mid Coast early, leaving peaky conditions. Surf is around 1′ on the reefs with occasional bigger sets, coming up  to high tide at 0740. The forecast predicts winds will swing to the South at some stage during the day, probably early afternoon. NW winds may come up again during the morning and add some bumps, and once the wind swings it’ll be bumpy on the reefs. Somewhere in between though, there should be some small, semi-clean peelers.   Shred factor 5/10

South Coast

Conditions are  clean on the South Coast early with North winds around 10 knots, and swell lining up well again. Surf is around 4′ along the Middleton – Goolwa stretch, and 2 – 4′ around at Chiton / Gap.  Waits and Parson’s will be bigger but probably struggling to hold it on the sets. It’ll stay offshore all day but if the forecast is on the money it’ll be blown out by 30 knot Northerlies before long. You really need to be out there now.  Shred factor 8/10

Mid Coast

For the first time in quite a while it’s mild outside on the Mid Coast, with a balmy NNE wind around 10 – 15 knots. The breeze is adding a bit of a wobble but conditions are still clean, with 1- 2′ waves on the reefs. High tide is around 0720, then the tide heads out until 1:40pm. The forecast predicts winds will tend more Northerly during the morning and pick up to 20 knots, possibly stronger after lunch. It’ll probably get bumpy from mid morning onward, and stay that way for the rest of the day. Shred factor 6/10

Mid Coast

NW winds around 10 – 15 knots are adding a few bumps on the Mid Coast this morning, but conditions are probably the least wind effected they’ve been in over a week. Surf is around 2′ on the reefs coming up to high tide, which is just before 7am. The dropping tide will effect it a  bit after 9am, but the lower tide will favour the beachies lunch time. There’s still a bit of debris floating around, and the water is still a bit dirty. The incoming tide may see conditions clean up a bit, with winds easing and possibly tending NE in the evening.   Shred factor 5/10
